Minnesota Laborers Union Nets $22,000 for Charities

Laborers District Council Family Fun-Raiser Raises Money

Minneapolis, MN (August 20, 2015) – The Minnesota Laborers Union netted over $22,000 for charities from their annual Laborers Family Fun-Raiser event - an event to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest and the Laborers Charitable Foundation, a national charitable organization affiliated with the Laborers International Union of North America.

Over 500 people attended a picnic and family friendly event held at historic Minnehaha Falls Park, in Minneapolis MN. The event involved numerous kids activities in a KIDWAY area that included bounce houses for the kids, face painting, bag toss games and more. Door prizes included bikes, a kayak, fishing gear and a Clam Outdoor Ice shack as a grand prize. Attendees were treated with a hot dog lunch and refreshments with 1,000 hot dogs served.

Volunteers from the Ronald McDonald House, Upper Midwest Charities expressed their appreciation for the event and the continued support.

“Thank you so much for going above and beyond every single year to support our families,” said Terra Peterson, Manager of Community Fundraisers for RMH. “There aren’t enough words to say a thank you that is big enough for all your support.”

The Laborers District Council of MN & ND, LECET and Laborers Locals would like to thank all who participated and to the many contributors who gave donations and prizes for this family orientated fundraising event. Total charitable giving by the Minnesota Laborers in the past 12 years has now reached $120,000.

Todd Pufahl, Chairman of the Fun-Raiser event and President of the Laborers District Council of MN & ND was pleased with the overall results.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming support we received from our signatory contractors, service providers, labor partners and members who’s generous contributions allowed us to make this great family friendly event possible for our members and their families while raising over $22,000.00 for our charities who support Laborers and other families in their times of need,” Pufahl said.

The Minnesota Laborers Union continues to make their communities better through this annual event, playground builds, coat drives, food missions and other efforts throughout Minnesota and into North Dakota.
