State standardized test scores released last month show that the learning gap between black and white students in the Duluth school district continues to widen.
In math, the gap grew by more than four points, although it remained about the same in reading. It widened in both subjects between students who receive special education services and those who do not, but narrowed slightly between white students and Native American students.
The Duluth School Board Tuesday was presented with a breakdown of 2015 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment results that came from spring testing. Tawnyea Lake, director of performance, assessments and evaluations for the district, emphasized that the tests are only part of how educators measure performance, as they monitor student progress throughout the school year.
