AUTO RACING: Kids' Night features thrilling races Sunday

BEMIDJI — The Bemidji Speedway held its second “Kid’s Night” of the summer racing season on Sunday night, with all kids 11-and-under receiving free admission. During intermission, the kids were also allowed down on track to meet all their favorite drivers and pick up photos and treats.

The Red Lake Police Department also donated bikes, which were given out to lucky kids.

But the joy of racing was also tempered by the recent loss of two members of the racing family. With the drivers and crews surrounding the track and the fans standing, a moment of silence was held for the families of Kevin and Kathy Davey, whose lives were tragically taken in an auto accident near St. Cloud on Saturday night following a day of racing.
