Pack up the van, Rez Comedians are headed to Hollywood: Kickstarter campaign reaches $10K goal

BEMIDJI—Persistence has paid off for Rez Reporter Rob Fairbanks and Jon "Jonny R" Roberts. After one Kickstarter campaign fell through, the two comedians launched a second Kickstarter to raise money to make "Rez Comedy," a documentary Fairbanks and Roberts will be filming while on the road to Hollywood this fall. The second try was successfully funded on July 29.

The first campaign began on June 29 with a goal of $20,000; on July 14 the Kickstarter fell short with a total of $3,380 pledged by 63 backers. The same day, Fairbanks and Roberts started a second Kickstarter for the project with a goal of $10,000. By the end of the campaign, 105 backers pledged a total of $10,390.

"It was my first time working on a Kickstarter," Roberts said. "We figured we might as well go big, but we learned from the first one."
