Teams Gear Up for Back-to-Back Indian Relay Events in Browning, Montana This July

After Crow Native Days and Veteran’s Memorial Relay, relay teams prepare for two events at Charging Home Stampede Park in historic Browning

BILLINGS, Mont. – The 2015 Indian Relay Race Season continued the past two weekends with exciting, action-packed relay during Crow Native Days in Crow Agency, Mont and the Oglala Veterans’ Memorial Relay in Pine Ridge, SD. Determined teams from the top horse nations competed for valuable PIHRA points to help earn them a spot at the All Nations Indian Relay Championships – the Super Bowl of Indian Relay! This week, teams are preparing for two important, back-to-back relays this coming weekend in Browning, Mont.

Results for the Championship Race at Crow Native Days:

1st: Awasapsii Express, Blackfeet Nation

2nd: Brew Crew, Lakota Sioux Nation

3rd: Dolphus Racing, Sioux Nation

4th: Old Elk Relay, Crow Nation

5th: Starr School, Blackfeet Nation

6th: Blanket Bull, Crow Nation

Results for the Championship Race at Veteran’s Memorial Relay:

1st: Lakota War Path, Sioux Nation

2nd: DD Express, Cheyenne River Sioux

3rd: Blue Moon, Oglala Sioux

4th: Brew Crew, Lakota Sioux Nation

The Professional Indian Horse Racing Association (PIHRA) is moving the action to historic Browning, Mont. bordering stunning Glacier National Park in Northwest Montana for two back-to-back relay events Jul. 8-11: Blackfeet-Glacier Park Relay and North American Indian Days. Blackfeet-Glacier Park Relay will be held Jul. 8-9 at Charging Home Stampede Park in Browning from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. both nights and will include an incredible Native American mounted parade. North American Indian Days, one of the best relays and pow wows on the circuit, will be held Jul. 10-11, same time and place as the first relay event. Both events will also feature a Kids’ Relay, Ladies’ Race and a Warrior Race, providing even more excitement for spectators. The Blackfeet Nation will host a barbecue after the final race on Friday evening. Nations from all teams are invited. The PIHRA 2015 All Nations Indian Relay Championships will be held in Billings, Mont. at the historic MetraPark Grandstands Sep.17-20, 2015. This year marks the third annual PIHRA Championships. Thirty teams from all major Horse Nations are expected to compete for the biggest purse ever offered for an Indian relay event.
