Dayton Focusing on Political Payouts Rather Than Minnesota's Future

SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- Americans for Prosperity Minnesota Deputy State Director Paul Carlson released the following statement in response to Governor Dayton’s announcement that he would issue massive raises to unelected administration officials:

“At a time when Minnesota families are still struggling to make ends meet, Governor Dayton has shown yet again just how out of touch he is with everyday Minnesotans. First, he raised billions of new taxes and now he’s giving double digit raises to his political allies already earning six-figure salaries in unelected positions,” Carlson said.

“Surveys show 70% of Minnesotans oppose these egregious raises and for good reason: middle-class families haven’t had a raise in years. This latest stunt shows once again that Dayton is more interested in paying back his political allies than in doing what is best for Minnesota.”
