Bemidji man wins $1.5 million in lottery

BEMIDJI—When Mark Church checked his Gopher 5 lottery numbers at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, he had suddenly become $1.5 million richer.

The Minnesota Lottery announced Thursday that the Bemidji man had won the $1,550,322 jackpot in the Gopher 5 drawing on Monday night.

Church said he's been playing a combination that includes his and his mother's birthdays, 4-5-9-26-27, for the past 18 to 20 years.
