Bemidji Speedway season begins with fanfare, excitement
BEMIDJI — The Bemidji Speedway opened its 2015 season Sunday with a full day of events. Monday’s races were cancelled due to rain in the area.
A total of 116 cars flooded the pits for the season opener. The grandstands were filled with excited fans, young and old, and it didn’t take long for the action to start, with two rollovers, a fire and plenty of “fireworks.”
The show featured nine classes of cars on the quarter mile high banked oval. Track conditions were “fantastic” according to the drivers: smooth and very fast.
