Commissioners decline request for airport loan, talk transit tax

BEMIDJI—Beltrami County Commissioners reviewed the local transit sales and use tax, and considered a request to help fund a purchase of property in the Bemidji Regional Airport runway protection zone at Tuesday's meeting.

Beltrami County Administrator Kay Mack informed the board the tax imposed on motor vehicles has brought in $2.9 million in net sales tax revenue between April 2014 and March 2015. Money collected from the tax is used to pay for road construction projects.
