Sanford POWER summer strength & conditioning program

The program provides training techniques to improve overall athletic enhancement.

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Sanford POWER will host its summer strength and conditioning program June 8 through Aug. 6 at the Bemidji High School (BHS). The Sanford POWER program offers ground-based training techniques to improve overall athletic enhancement. Bemidji area high school and middle school students interested in improving their strength and conditioning are invited to participate.

The Sanford POWER summer program is a group strength and conditioning training program offered by Sanford Bemidji and BHS. The program is led by training staff from BHS and Sanford Bemidji Rehab Services. It implements the latest in strength, speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility, explosive power development, along with conditioning training.

This year's programs and objectives include:

* POWER - speed, agility, strength and plyometrics

* Treadmill speed training (high school athletes only)

* Sport specific injury prevention exercises incorporated into daily sessions, including endurance and women's only sessions

Session dates and times: June 8 through Aug. 6

* High school athletes (entering grades 9-12, fall 2015)

o POWER: Monday through Thursday, 90-minute sessions start at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon or 5 p.m.

o Treadmill Speed Training: Tuesday and Thursday (schedule determined after enrollment)

* Middle school athletes (entering grades 6-8, fall 2015)

o POWER: Tuesday and Thursday, 10-11:15 a.m.

Registration fee:

* High School POWER - $90

* High School Treadmill Speed Training - $30

* Middle School POWER - $70
