Franken talks mental health care crisis in Bemidji visit

BEMIDJI-- U.S. Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., heard Bemidji area officials describe a crisis: mentally ill people in Minnesota aren't getting proper care, and it puts both them and others in danger.

The discussion happened during a rural health care roundtable Saturday at Sanford Health Bemidji. Law enforcement officials, mental health professionals and Sanford doctors described a drastic lack of suitable care available to people who are experiencing mental health issues.
