Injunuity reschedules concert May 2

ADA, Okla. – Native American band "Injunuity" will present its live performance at 7 p.m. May 2 at the McSwain Theatre.

The band's Feb. 28 show was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The band began in 2007 as the duo of Jeff Carpenter (Chickasaw) on acoustic guitar and Brad Clonch (Mississippi Choctaw) playing native flute. They are Native American Music (NAMMYS) award winners. The band's first NAMMY came in 2008 with the debut compact disc Unconquered for which they won Debut Group of the Year. In 2010, a second NAMMY was claimed by Carpenter and Clonch for Songwriter(s) of the Year.

Two new members, Phillip Sullivan, bass guitarist, and Brian Harrison, percussionist, joined the band in 2013. The newest band members have native roots as well. Harrison has traced his Cherokee heritage to a grandmother who died in 1834; Sullivan is currently working with the Chickasaw Nation Holisso Research Center to trace his Chickasaw ancestry.

A special guest will join the group. Shaun DeGraff will be the featured vocalist and also will make musical contributions on piano.
