Mahnomen woman charged with stabbing man in his home

WHITE EARTH -- A Mahnomen woman is facing felony burglary and assault charges after allegedly breaking into a man's home and stabbing him Saturday.

Serena Lee Oppegard, 40, was arrested Saturday after White Earth police responded to a report of an assault on the 21300 block of Strawberry Mountain Road in Clearwater County at approximately 5:13 a.m.. According to court documents, a woman called 911 after she woke up to a female, later identified as Oppegard, standing over the bed stabbing a male victim. The reporting party said she had to run across the road to call 911.

When law enforcement arrived, Oppegard was located in a bathroom and said she was taking a bath, court documents said. The victim was also inside the residence. He was found without clothes on crouching behind a door.
