Rep. Persell Recognized by Coalition as 'Champion for Racial Equality'

ST. PAUL, MN – A statewide coalition of advocates for racial equity, Voices for Racial Justice, has recognized State Representative John Persell (DFL – Bemidji) with their ‘Champion for Racial Equality’ award and an A+ grade for his work to end racial inequality in the 2013-2014 legislative session.

“It’s an honor to do the work of increasing racial equity for all Minnesotans,” said Rep. Persell. “There are many good people in our community that are tearing down racial barriers every day who don’t get this sort of recognition, and I’m proud to work with them. Equality is something I feel very strongly about, because our common bonds as human beings are always greater than our differences.”

Members of the group Voices for Racial Justice include a diverse coalition of labor, business, religious, and social organizations, and individuals of every race community in Minnesota, including members of the Native American, African American, Latino, and Asian American communities.
