Warriors take the series lead 2-1 after 78-65 win over Panthers - P11

RED LAKE, MN – After coming off their impressive win against state ranked Nevis on Tuesday, January 6th, Red Lake jumped out to an early lead against rival Cass Lake, and by the end of the first half of play, were well ahead 56-15.

But the Panthers clawed back in the second half by chipping away at Red Lake's lead, nearly making a comeback. They outscored Red Lake 47-27 in that final half, but with time a factor it wasn't enough, as Red Lake came away with the win, 78-65.

Jeremy Martin led Red Lake with 19 points, Russell Kingbird had 18, most of which were 3s, Rob McClain added 11, Jimmy Jourdain 10, Justin Needham 8 and Ira Spears and Tyrell Patterson each with 6.

Alvin Wind III led the Panthers with 19, Noah Delopaz had 16, Willy Kingbird 10, and Damien Kingbird and Terik Frazier each had 8.

Red Lake defeated the the Panthers in Cass Lake in December, but lost to them at the Thief River Falls Tournament 71-70.

They are now 9-3 on the season and will host Mahnomen on Monday, December 12, 2014 in a Girls/Boys double-header, travel to Kelliher-Northome on January 13, before playing in a tournament in Bemidji on January 16 and 17, 2015.
