Warriors go to 10-3 after 101-79 win over Mahnomen - P5

RED LAKE, MN – After coming off their impressive wins against Nevis on Tuesday, January 6th and rival Cass Lake on Friday, January 9, the Red Lake Warriors took a halftime lead of 52-42 and knocked off Mahnomen 101-79 on Monday, January 12.

The Warriors trailed the Indians pretty much all the way until the 5:55 mark of the first half before going ahead 29-28. Mahnomen had a slight height advantage, and early foul trouble put Red Lake's Rob McClain and Jeremy Martin to the bench. But Red Lake hung in there and continued to fast break and get their shots to fall from both underneath and outside. At the half it was Red Lake leading by 10.

That lead they would never give up, and paced by 4 Warriors in double figures, went on to a 101-79 win.

Russell Kingbird led all scorers with 22 points, followed by Ira Spears with 21, Jeremy Martin 18, James jourdain 11 and Rob McClain with 7.

Luke Wamsholtz led Mahnomen with 16, Kaleb Geiske added 13 and Dylen Reiten and Brian Schoenborn each hit for 11.

Red Lake moves to 10-3 on the season and travel to Kelliher-Northome on Tuesday, January 13, before playing in a tournament in Bemidji on January 16 and 17, 2015.
