Red Lake Warriors Upset 8th Ranked Nevis 82-49 - P2

RED LAKE, MN – On a frosty Monday night of January 5, 2015, with wind chills between -30 and -40 degrees, a good sized crowd ignored the elements and came out to support their Red Lake Warriors. And the Warriors did not disappoint them.

The Warriors jumped out quickly and dominated on both ends of the court, racking up 26 points and leading until Nevis scored one point on a freethrow.

Red Lake continued their fast-paced offense and brought up their lead to 41-8 with 5:06 remaining in the first half.

With 1:12 left the Warriors were up by 41 points, 51-10, and led at the half 53-17.

It was a deficit Nevis could not make up in the second half, and Red Lake dominated to win 82-49.

The loss for Nevis was their first of the year putting them at 8-1, and the win for the Warriors put them at 7-3 on the season.

Leading all scorers for Red Lake was Jeremy Martin with 20, Ira Spears had 17, Jimmy Jourdain hit for 16, Rob McClain added 10, Russell Kingbird had 7, Justice Needham ended with 6 and Tyrell Patterson netted 4.

Gaven Becker led Nevis with 17 and Griffen Chase had 10.

Red Lake will host the Cass Lake-Bena Panthers on Friday, January 9th with a chance to go up 2-1 against Cass Lake on the season. The Warriors beat the Panthers 95-89 in Cass Lake, and lost to them in a tournament in Thief River Falls 71-70.
