MAN ARRESTED NEAR FOURTOWN

On November 11, 2014 at 4:37 PM the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office received a call from Jay Walter Bloom, age 55, at his residence on Outpost Rd NW, located near Fourtown, approximately 95 miles northwest of Bemidji.

Bloom was distraught and making threats about harming himself or others with a firearm.

Beltrami, Marshall and Roseau County Sheriff's Office Deputies, US Border Patrol agents and Minnesota State Patrol Troopers responded to the location and established a perimeter at Bloom's home.

Bloom was taken into custody without incident by the responding officers at 6:42 PM. Bloom was transported to the Beltrami County Jail where charges are pending for "felon in possession of a firearm and violation of an Order for Protection." A review of charges from the County Attorney's Office is forthcoming.

Additional assistance was provided by the Grygla Fire and Rescue Team, Great Plains Medical Ambulance and the Headwaters SWAT team.
