Nelson, Stately, Thomas win Red Lake School Board Elections

4-Year Terms begin in January 2015

RED LAKE - Red Lake School Board Elections were held on Election Day 2014 on Tuesday, November 4th, and unofficial results have determined the winners to be incumbent Roy Nelson with 480 votes, newcomer Tina Stately with 469 and incumbent Barbara Thomas with 462.

Coming in 4th was Chris Jourdain with 457, Thomas Barrett with 440 and Kathryn "Jody" Beaulieu with 381.

Originally 17 candidates filed for 3 school board seats in June 2014. Those seats currently up in January 2015 are held by Roy Nelson, Barb Thomas and Chris Jourdain. These terms are 4 years each.

Those candidates filing were Thomas Barrett, Kathryn "Jody" Beaulieu, Dorothy W. Cobenais, Nicole Desjarlait, Victoria Irons Graves, Chris Jourdain, Maureen Lyons, Roy Nelson Sr., Michael G. Stillday, Barb Thomas, Irene Zamora, Allura J. May, David L. May, Jerick L. Head, Michelle Reynolds, Rob Beaulieu and Tina Statley.

Six candidates advanced in the August 12th Primary Election, and they were Thomas Barrett receiving 127 votes, Roy Nelson receiving 105 votes, Chris Jourdain 91 votes, Barb Thomas 82 votes, Jody Beaulieu 77 votes and Tina Stately with 75 votes.

The Red Lake School Board will certify the election results at a Special School Board Meeting on Monday, November 10, 2014.

The winners will be sworn into office in January 2015 at a Special School Board Meeting, where they will begin their 4 year terms of office.

The next school board election won't take place until the 2016 Primary Election, when 3 other board members terms come up for election. Those with terms ending in 2017 are Michael Barrett, Rob McClain and Darwin Sumner.
