Bemidji State's online accounting programs touted for affordability

Oct. 21, 2014 — Bemidji State University’s online accounting degree programs have been ranked among the nation’s 10 most-affordable programs by independent website Accounting Degree Review.

BSU ranked eighth on the list of 30 affordable online bachelor’s degrees with an annual tuition of $8,045. Western Governors University held the top spot in the site’s rankings.

“With the rising cost of college and the legitimacy and convenience of online degrees, we thought it would be helpful to rank online accounting bachelor’s degrees by tuition cost,” site editor Dee Barizo said. “In our findings, we found that there is a great selection of online degrees with reasonable prices. Plus, students are able to save time and money by avoiding the commute to a physical campus.”

The site examined more than 80 regionally accredited schools and created a list of affordable programs that includes schools of all sizes and public, private and for-profit institutions among its top 30.

“The online Bachelor of Science in Accounting from BSU is a degree completion program for students who have finished an Associate of Arts degree or completed the Minnesota transfer coursework. Also, you can be admitted into the program if you hold a bachelor’s degree.

“The program uses the same curriculum and is taught by the same faculty as the on-campus program. Although the program is online, you can interact personally with the BSU faculty. They are available through email, online chat, and phone.”
