Tickets on Sale Now for Nicholas David: Christmas at the Fitzgerald on December 6

Proceeds from concert event will support the St. Paul Police Foundation’s efforts to train and protect the city’s police force

ST. PAUL, MINN. – October 20, 2014 – The St. Paul Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the St. Paul Police Foundation announced today that tickets are now on sale for a first-of-its-kind concert event featuring St. Paul native Nicholas David and other artists set for the Fitzgerald Theatre at 7 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 6. Proceeds from Nicholas David: Christmas at the Fitzgerald will benefit the St. Paul Police Foundation in conjunction with Holiday Lights in the Park taking place nightly at St. Paul’s Phalen Park from November 25 to January 1.

David, a finalist on NBC’s The Voice in 2012 said he is thrilled to be performing at the Fitzgerald for the first time as a headliner. “It’s a dream come true. I am a St. Paul guy and I remember taking my boys to the Children’s Museum and looking out at the theatre and saying I’m going to play there one day,” he said. “To be able to lend the talents I have been blessed with and to help spread holiday cheer and improve lives for the people in the place I live is humbling and gratifying.”

The concert will also feature well-known Twin Cities artists Alison Scott, Esera Tuaolo, Eric Gordon and Phil Thompson. David promises to perform both holiday favorites and the songs he made famous on The Voice. “It’s going to be fun,” said David. “We are going to be doing the songs people want to hear like “What’s Going On,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” It’s important to me to give back to the town that helped me become who I am.”

Thompson, who also is the music director for Holiday Lights said that having David at the top of the bill is a testament to the kind of artist David is. “We are beyond thrilled that Nicholas is doing his first ever holiday show with us,” said Thompson. “We are so grateful that he has teamed up with us to spread some additional goodwill for our goal to support the St. Paul Police Foundation.”

Holiday Lights in the Park raises money for local charities by welcoming carloads of holiday lights seekers to the area’s largest nightly seasonal celebration. For the cost of $10 per vehicle, visitors will experience a program of more than 60 larger-than-life holiday light sculptures and animated displays from the comfort of their vehicles as they cruise through the park in the evening hours. To date, Holiday Lights in the Park has raised more than $336,000 over the past six years to support local nonprofit organizations that support the residents of the Twin Cities.

In addition, Holiday Lights Vol. 6, the CD soundtrack of Holiday Lights returns with its best lineup yet of local artists singing traditional and original holiday tunes. David is featured singing the timeless classic, “Joy to the World” on the CD. Other artists on the CD include Alison Scott, Mick Sterling, The Blenders, Chris Koza, Eric Gordon and Phil Thompson.

The CD will go on sale for $10 on November 11 at all Twin Cities-area Kowalski’s Markets. Each CD contains a voucher for one free admission to Holiday Lights in the Park, a $10 value. In addition, the CD will be available for purchase at Phalen Park for just $5 with a paid entrance to Holiday Lights.

“When you combine the nightly light display, the concert and the holiday CD, you can truly see the impact Holiday Lights is having on our community,” said Kate Kelly, executive director of the Saint Paul Police Foundation. “We look forward to big crowds, inspiring music and a holiday season full of generosity.”

David, who hasn’t forgotten where he came from, says that the concert is a small way of paying back his supporters. “St. Paul is the place to be. It has done so much for me and for many other people,” said David. “I’m a blessed man to have a chance to raise my family and perform my music in this wonderful town.”

Tickets to the concert are available for purchase through the Fitzgerald Theatre box office at 10 E. Exchange Street in downtown St. Paul. For more information please visit http://www.fitzgeraldtheatre.org.
