Red Lake woman sentenced after rollover

BEMIDJI -- A Red Lake woman has been sentenced to serve 15 days in jail for causing a crash that injured a passenger in June.

Melvina Rose May, 49, was convicted Sept. 30 in Beltrami County District Court of criminal vehicular operation of a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more. May's blood alcohol level was 0.184 when she rolled her Ford F150 on Highway 89 south of Scribner Road Northwest in June. A passenger in May's vehicle was injured in the accident.

May was sentenced to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail, of which 350 days are stayed for three years. May has been placed on three years unsupervised probation and must pay a $750 fine. Criminal vehicular operation carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $3,000 fine.
