Bemidji man charged in stabbing

BEMIDJI -- A man was stabbed in September in Bemidji after a woman allegedly ordered the act.

Jonathan Garrick Beaulieu, 18, of Bemidji appeared Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court charged with felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Beaulieu is accused of stabbing a man in Bemidji on Sept. 20.

Bemidji Police Officers responded to a report of an assault at Skyline Village at approximately 12:08 a.m., court documents state. Upon arrival, officers observed a man on the back deck of a residence on Delton Ave. NW. The man indicated he felt like he was going to die and lifted up his shirt where officers saw one puncture wound to his lower abdomen, according to a statement of probable cause.

While receiving medical attention in the ambulance, the victim told law enforcement he declined going home with a woman who told Beaulieu to "take care of him," according to court documents. The woman, Teresa Myers, was arrested in the incident but not charged.

The man living at the residence told law enforcement Beaulieu knocked on the door and "bum rushed" in and held a knife to his throat saying, "If you pick on Teresa (Myers) any more I'll cut your throat," according to court documents. A witness at the residence confirmed the homeowner's statement.

Beaulieu and Meyers were located and arrested at a residence on Ridgeway Ave. NW where officers located a knife that matched the description of that used in the stabbing.

A second-degree assault charge with a dangerous weapon carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Beaulieu is scheduled Monday to appear in Beltrami County District Court.
