Annual Anishinaabe Four-Day Sobriety Run kicks off in Red Lake - P18

The Annual Four-Day Anishinaabe Sobriety Run kicked off at Red Lake Chemical Health Headquarters in Red Lake about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2014.

In four days, the Run would take them through Bemidji, Leech Lake, Grand Rapids, Floodwood, and conclude on Friday, August 2nd, at Mash-ka-wisen pow-wow grounds in Fond du Lac.

Any and all runners were encouraged and welcome to participate in any and all of the run or join up at any time during the 200 mile relay.

Run Agenda:

Day One: 10:00 a.m. Opening ceremony and smudging of Staffs. (Chemical Health Program Red Lake) 10:30 a.m. Depart for Leech Lake Veterans Memorial Grounds

5:00 p.m. Arrive at Leech Lake Pow-wow Grounds for feast, and camping

Day Two: 10:00 a.m. Depart Leech Lake for Grand Rapids Camp Grounds

3:00 p.m. Arrive at Grand Rapids for picnic, and Camping

Day Three: 10:00 a.m. Depart Grand Rapids and end at Floodwood Minnesota

5:00 p.m. Arrive at Floodwood, and return to Grand Rapids Camp Grounds

Day Four: 9:00 a.m. Depart Floodwood for Fond du Lac. Arrive at the Mash-ka-wisen pow-wow grounds around Grand Entry for the start of the 36th Annual Celebration of Sobriety.
