Red Lake Girls to play in Pacesetter "Sweet Sixteen" Basketball Championships in St. Cloud Saturday and Sunday

The Red Lake girls will be playing in the 24th Annual Pacesetter "Sweet Sixteen" Basketball Championships in St. Cloud Saturday and Sunday, August 2-3 at Clemens Field House and Claire Lynch gym at The College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph.

The top four teams in each class as projected by Minnesota Basketball News for the 2014-2015 season have been placed into a 16-team bracket with one team from each class in each 4-team bracket.

The boys' bracket will begin play at 10:00 a.m. with Hopkins against Crosby-Ironton, Rushford-Peterson playing Columbia Heights, and Orono playing Braham. At 11:20 a.m. defending champion Apple Valley will play Fond du Lac, Cretin Derham Hall will play Thief River Falls, Minneapolis North will play Caledonia and Champlin Park will play Redwood Valley. Totino Grace and Canby will play in the final boys' opening round game at 12:40 p.m.

The girls will begin with Orono playing Redwood Valley at 10:00 a.m., followed at 12:40 p.m. by Hopkins playing Goodhue, Chatfield playing Waconia, White Bear Lake playing Red Lake, and defending 4A high school champion Eastview playing Albany. Starting at 2:00 p.m. Esko will play Maranatha Christian Academy, St. Michael-Albertville will play Minnehaha Academy and Kasson-Mantorville will play Browerville.

All teams will play two games each day. The Sweet Sixteen championship games will be held Sunday with the boys at 2:30 p.m. and the girls at 5:10 p.m.

The Apple Valley boys and the Eastview girls won the 2013 Pacesetter Sweet Sixteen titles.
