Babaamaajimowinan (Telling of news in different places)
The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, passed by Minnesota voters on November 4, 2008, has made it possible for the Region 2 Arts Council to award $7,003 in Artist Mentor Grants to young artists in our region.
Region 2 Arts Council Artist Mentor grants were awarded to eight 8th -12th grade student artists to mentor with a professional artist or to attend a camp or workshop in their arts discipline.
Gwenfrewi Burger, a Beltrami County 11th Grader at Interlochen Arts Academy, MI, received $600 to study cello performance at “Cello; an American Arts Experience” in Northfield, Minnesota.
Skylar Fynboh, a Hubbard County 10th grader at Nevis High School, received $1,000 to study guitar with mentor Lou Samsa.
Emily Kivi, a Beltrami County 11th grader at Bemidji High School, received $1,000 to study with mentor and BSU Faculty member, Eric Olson.
Madisyn Rick, a Beltrami County11th grader at Bemidji High School, received $403 to study dance at Just for Kix Summer Camp in Brainerd.
Alyssa Daken, a Beltrami County 10th grader at Kelliher High School, received $1,000 to study computer-assisted illustration with mentor Nicholas Jackson.
Sophia Ramirez, a Beltrami County 8th grader at Bemidji Middle School, received $1,000 to study music composition with mentor, Andrew Green.
Benjamin Larson, a Beltrami County homeschooled 11th grader, received $1,000 to study piano with mentor, Dr. Paul Wirth.
Nikita Graves, a Beltrami County 8th grader at Bemidji Middle School, received $1,000 to study drawing with mentor, Nicholas Jackson.
The next Artist Mentor Grant deadline is December 1, 2014
