SOFTBALL: Blackduck now 7-0

Blackduck's softball team continued its winning ways last week when it defeated CL-B 22-11 and 19-5. Those wins upped Blackduck's record to 7-0.

The Drakes will begin a homestand today against Littlefork-Big Falls. On Friday they will entertain Deer River and on Monday they will welcome Deer River.

Michaela Sparby has 13 RBIs while Breanna Enger and Kara Draeger each have 12. Enger's .792 batting average leads the team and Taylor Levy is hitting at a .739 clip.

Bagley is finding wins difficult to come by as the Flyers dipped to 1-9 after Tuesday's 21-7 loss to Norman County East.

On Tuesday they will head to Lake Park-Audubon for a doubleheader.

Laporte began its season with 24-2 and 17-4 losses to Pine River. The Wildcats will seek their initial win today at CL-B which is 0-4 after dropping the doubleheader to Blackduck.

Kelliher-Northome stopped Red Lake 26-13 and 14-13 on Tuesday to improve to 3-1 and will head to Lake of the Woods today and visit Remer on Friday. Red Lake dropped to 0-6 after the losses to the Mustangs.

BASEBALL: Drakes topple LOW

Jake Peterson belted a grand slam and the blast helped the Blackduck baseball team thump Lake of the Woods 17-1 Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader in Blackduck. The Drakes also claimed the rematch 14-5.

Tuesday's wins upped Blackduck's record to 3-1. Weather permitting, the Drakes will have a busy weekend as they are scheduled to host Cass Lake-Bena and Laporte today, head to Red Lake for a doubleheader on Friday and then travel to Crookston on Saturday to take on Red Lake County and Crookston.

Bagley is 4-2 after stopping Crookston 2-1 and Northome-Kelliher 11-1 in the past week. The Flyers are off until May 5 when they make the trip to Fosston.

Cass Lake-Bena finally was able to begin its season and the Panthers are 1-3. CL-B owns an 11-1 victory over Laporte but fell 9-2 at Nevis and was swept 26-1 and 14-1 by Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.

The Panthers will travel to Blackduck today and will host Laporte on Tuesday.

Northome-Kelliher is 1-4 after the loss to Bagley but the Mustangs will try to begin a winning streak today at home against WHA. On Friday they will host Lake of the Woods and Tuesday they will welcome Mahnomen in a doubleheader.

Red Lake is 0-2 after last week's loss to Northome-Kelliher.
