Behavioral Health Conference held in Red Lake

Red Lake Vocational Rehabilitation Services has been working on the Behavioral Health Conference for the Red Lake Nation for some time now after several community members felt there was a need for one.

The Conference began on April 28, 2014 and will continue through May 1, 2014 at the Seven Clans Event Center in Red Lake.

Presentations included Healthy Living--Grief Issues by Murphy Thomas, Jr.; Community Resources and Update by Cheryl Schoenborn; QRP - Question, Persuade and Refer; Early Warning Signs; Healthy Living - Coping Mechanisms; Round Table Discussions; Mental Health First Aid; Healthy Living - Positive Attitudes and eliminating bad habits; Mental Health Crisis Planning; Children's Challenging Behaviors; and QPR with Red Lake Youth Council.

Other presenters were Donna Fox, Program Director, NAMI - Minnesota, Cynthia Fashaw, Children's Programs and Multicultural Outreach Director, NAMI - Minnesota and Elizabeth Muenchow, Smoking Cessation Project Coordinator, NAMI - Minnesota.
