RED LAKE - Roger White of Red Lake was named the Section 8A boys basketball Coach of the Year.
White guided the Warriors to the section championship and the state high school tournament where Red Lake fell to Maranatha Christian in the opening round.
Red Lake also placed three players on the Northland All Conference team - Ryan Holthusen, Trevenn Beaulieu and James Jourdain.
Representing Cass Lake-Bena was Josh LaDuke while Trey Volk and Tyler Jablonski of Blackduck were first team all conference as were Isaiah Rahier of Northome-Kelliher and Austin Moss of Laporte.
Named to the honorable mention squad were Damien Kingbird and Willy Kingbird of Cass Lake-Bena, Mark Geerdes and Eli Rahier of Northome-Kelliher plus Rob Mclain and Russell Kingbird of Red Lake.
Brian Michaelson of Cass Lake-Bena was named Northland Conference Coach of the Year while Chris Duff of Walker-Hackensack-Akeley was the Most Valuable Player and Eli Rahier of N-K was the Rookie of the Year.
The area programs also were represented on the Academic All-State team as Isaiah Rahier of N-K, Volk and Duff all were named to the academic squad.

Spring Sports Begin
Bagley has been able to get in two baseball games this spring and the Flyers are 1-1, blanking Win-E-Mac 7-0 but losing 3-0 to Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.
On Monday Bagley will travel to Thief River Falls and the Flyers will visit Lake Park-Audubon on April 24.
Northome-Kelliher dropped its only game to date, losing 12-0 to Nevis. Red Lake also lost to the Tigers 13-0 last week.
Weather permitting N-K will host Pine River today and head to Blackduck on Tuesday. Laporte and Cass Lake-Bena are scheduled to square off today while Blackduck and Fosston will battle Monday at the BSU diamond.
Bagley also has braved the elements to play four softball games, losing 13-3 to Frazee, 16-4 to Sebeka, 20-4 to Norman County and 16-6 to Fertile-Beltrami.
The Flyers will hope for a better result today when the travel to East Grand Forks. On Monday they will tangle with Blackduck and East Polk.
Blackduck, Laporte and Cass Lake-Bena are still looking to begin their campaigns. Kelliher-Northome does have a win under its belt as the Mustangs toppled WHA 12-2 in their only start. On Tuesday they will entertain Cass Lake-Bena.
Red Lake is 0-1 after losing 14-1 at Nevis last week. The Warriors head to WHA today and will visit Blackduck on Tuesday.
