Two races narrowed in White Earth Primary

WHITE EARTH -- The races for secretary/treasurer and District II representative for the White Earth Reservation were narrowed to two in Tuesday’s Primary Election.

In the race for secretary/treasurer, Robert J. Durant, the incumbent, led all voting with 401 votes for 36.1 percent while Tara Mason came in second with 321 votes for 28.9 percent, according to unofficial results.

For District II representative, incumbent Terrence “Terry” Tibbetts led voting with 208 votes for 40.3 percent while Kathy Goodwin gathered 156 votes for 30.2 percent.

The top two candidates in each race now advance to the June 10 General Election.

Also running in the General Election will be two candidates for District I representative: incumbent Irene “Rene” Auginaush and challenger Steven “Punky” Clark.
