From KKCQ Radio: Section 8A East Championship – #2 Red Lake 73 vs. #1 Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 53
The Red Lake Warriors have always been known for their offense, but it was their defense that played a big role in the outcome of their East Sub-Section 8A Championship game against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Tuesday night in Thief River Falls.
Trevenn Beaulieu got the Warriors rolling by hitting three 3 pointers in the first half as Red Lake took a 34-25 lead into halftime. Ryan Holthusen didn't score until 4:24 remained in the first half, but still ended up with 13 points on the night.
Red Lake had four players in double figures as they improved their overall record to 22-7.
Chris Duff led the Wolves with 22 points as the defending Section 8A Champions end their season at 23-5. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley came into the game having won their last 13 in a row, with their last loss coming against Red Lake on January 21st.
Red Lake will play the Northern Freeze Friday night at 7:00 pm in the Thief River Falls for the Section 8A Championship.
