FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR
Regional Criminal Justice Complex

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible to the Detention Administrator and Managers of Detention in oversight and management of culinary responsibilities. This position has supervisory authority, full-time position with benefits, salary DOQ.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Will meet with I.H.S. Nutritionist for approval of proper nutrients and diet is being met.
• Fully responsible for the food service area.
• Schedule weekly inspections of the kitchen and document it.
• Complete a work schedule for the food service staff.
• Ensure that all cooking utensils are properly sanitized.
• Order supplies and food. Complete a monthly report showing daily meals served and the total cost of food purchased.
• Give all monthly invoices to the Detention Administrator.
• Arrange additional training in the food service area.
• Also assist in completing the duties of the Assistant Cook.
• Update and implement procedures for the food service area.
• Able to recommend disciplinary action if needed.
• Give a quarterly and yearly report to the Detention Administrator.
• Must pass a physical examination and take a yearly T.B. Skin test.
• Able to work with others and maintain a good working relationship.
• Must be willing to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Willing to complete other duties assigned by the Detention Administrator or the Detention Managers.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be a high school graduate or possess an equivalent G.E.D.
• Must have 3 years of successful cooking experience.
• Degree in Cuisine and/or Food Handler's Certificate required.
• Must have a high moral standards, be emotionally stable and ability to pass a physical exam submitted by the department.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• No misdemeanor or conviction in the past year and must have never been convicted of a felony crime. No felony convictions in lifetime & never convicted of domestic violence;
• Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License with no major criminal violations in the last three years.
• Physically capable of handling job requirements and lifting requirements.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Must comply with the Red Lake Department of Public Safety's Zero Tolerance Policy and submit to random drug testing.
