Bemidji, MN – March 10, 2014 – The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is offering a workshop to explore nonprofit organization funding sources and planning for successful development efforts. Session topics include identifying multiple funding sources, how to plan and begin implementation of development efforts as well as how to effectively engage board members and volunteers in development.

This workshop is designed to help lead an organization’s fund development plan. The workshop will provide steps to understanding the importance for nonprofits to have various fund sources; how to identify those fund sources; and, how to write a case statement for financial support. Understanding the hesitancy of board members and staff to become involved in development will also be explored.

Gary Kelsey will be presenting the workshop. Kelsey has 37 years of experience as an organizational development consultant. He has provided non-profit board development, program development, strategic planning, fundraising and leadership coaching to more than 250 non-profit, philanthropic, education and government organizations. Currently, he is a professor at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

The workshop will be offered in Bemidji, April 1, at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation and in Crookston April 2, at Mount St. Benedict.
