Red Lake Schools adding 15 minute extension to the school day, enhancing student achievement

To best meet student academic achievement needs as measured by Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) taken in April, the Red Lake Board of Education and Education Minnesota – Red Lake chose to extend the school day at the Regular School Board Meeting of February 19, 2014. Increasing the school day will allow staff to better focus on each student's learning needs rather than further extending the school year into mid June. The extended day schedule begins on Monday, February 24, 2014.

The request was approved to allow for increased learning time for student performance as evaluated by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) which will be taken starting on April 7 through May 18, 2014.

The change for the end of the school day to 3:30 pm will begin on Monday, February 24, 2014 until the last day of school for students which is June 4, 2014. The last day for certified staff will end at noon on June 5, 2014.

School will start on Mondays at 9:00 AM., and on Tuesdays through Fridays at 8:00 AM.

Students will be released everyday at 3:30 pm.

Bus pickups will continue as normally scheduled, however bus drop-offs will be 15 minutes later.
