Bemidji, MN – January 23, 2014 – The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is offering a workshop in Thief River Falls, February 12 and in Bemidji, February 13 for prospective board members, existing board members, nonprofit executives and nonprofit staff members. The workshop is designed to help individuals learn about their role and responsibilities of the organization they serve.

The itinerary includes: the difference between nonprofit and for-profit entities and board service, legal considerations, board member “must do” roles and responsibilities, as well as tools and tips for effective board service.

Judy Sharken Simon, Senior Consultant, Strategic Services, MAP for Nonprofits will present the workshop. Sharken Simon is responsible for MAP’s Best on Board® program, volunteer program and board training programs.

The workshop will be offered in Thief River Falls February 12, at Northland Community and Technical College and in Bemidji at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation February 13.
