New AHA Annual Survey Data Launches in Multiple Formats

CHICAGO, IL – In a changing health care landscape, having the tools to decipher data trends is an essential part of any health care leader’s toolbox. Since 1946, the American Hospital Association (AHA) has been conducting an in-depth, annual survey that is representative of all U.S. hospitals. Health Forum’s Peter Kralovec, Executive Director, Data Center, explains that “How we collect our data sets us apart. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we have deep experience in survey methodology.”

Hospital and health care executives can choose from multiple data “power tools” to leverage the high-quality AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals data for a competitive edge.

For those who are looking for an annual fiscal snapshot of in-depth hospital data, the 2012 American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Survey Database in CD format is now in stock. Subscribers will have access to a “change log” that documents both new survey items and those that have been removed. The database also includes lists of open, closed and merged hospitals compared to the prior year.

Health Forum’s DataViewerTM product was also refreshed on November 21, 2013 with the new AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals data. DataViewerTM is an online tool that is updated constantly as hospital changes occur. DataViewerTM licensees can create custom reports on more than 6,400 hospitals, using 1,000+ data fields spanning hospital demographics and executive contacts; services lines, facilities, staffing and utilization data; physician arrangements and managed care relationships; financials and much more.

The newest AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals data can also be accessed via the 2014 AHA Guide® and 2014 AHA Hospital StatisticsTM. The AHA Guide® is a comprehensive, encyclopedic hospital directory available now in both book and searchable CD formats. 2014 AHA Hospital StatisticsTM is scheduled for release in January and can be preordered now in book or book/CD formats. 2014 AHA Hospital StatisticsTM allows for analysis and comparison of hospital trends in utilization, personnel and finances in U.S. community hospitals for selected years from 1946 to 2012. Data comes from the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals and U.S. Census Bureau population data.

Whichever format works best for an organization’s data needs, the quality and depth of the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals data offers a range of benefits. For details on accessing the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals data, call (866) 375-3633, or e-mail ahadatainfo@healthforum.com.
