Anishinaabe Horse Riders will meet and commence a journey

Thursday morning at 9:00 A.M. on November 14, 2013 Anishinaabe horse riders will meet and commence a journey at the Mississippi Headwaters in Itasca State Park. This is a spiritual horse ride in honor of Mother Earth to bring awareness and education about Enbridge Pipelines Corporation’s proposed Sandpiper pipeline project, to begin construction in late 2014. The Enbridge Pipelines (North Dakota) LLC proposed Sandpiper pipeline is a $2.5 billion project.

On Thursday the riders will rest south of Bagley and begin again Friday morning at 9:00 AM to finish in Clearbrook at the Enbridge transfer station. Enbridge plans to create a new pipeline corridor known as the “preferred southern route,” which will cross the Mississippi River twice and run within close proximity to Itasca State Park and through a portion of the White Earth Reservation to a final destination in Superior, Wisconsin. This spiritual ride will culminate what is being called the “Triple Crown” of pipeline rides, which has included journeys along the Enbridge Line 67 (Alberta Clipper) pipeline from Superior, Wisconsin to Clearbrook, Minnesota and proposed route of the Keystone XL pipeline expansion in South Dakota.
