Minnesota's Education Commissioner Cassellius Tours Red Lake Schools - P2

Minnesota’s Education Commissioner, Dr. Brenda Cassellius, paid a visit to Red Lake High School and Red Lake Elementary School on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.

A lifelong educator with experiences as a teacher, principal and superintendent, Dr. Cassellius was appointed as Commissioner in January 2011 by Governor Mark Dayton.

Working closely with Governor Dayton on the 7-point plan, "Better Schools for a Better Minnesota," under her leadership the agency is focused on excellence, equity and opportunity; closing Minnesota’s achievement gap; supporting high-quality teaching; and using innovative strategies to improve results.

She met with members of the Red Lake School Board at the Administration Building, followed by visits to Red Lake High School, Red Lake Middle School and Red Lake Elementary School. There she spent time touring the buildings, classrooms and visited with several students and teachers.

The Red Lake School Board, staff and students felt very honored to have Commissioner Cassellius in Red Lake, and hope she returns one day for another visit.
