DRUG BUSTS RESULTS IN SEVERAL ARRESTS AND SEIZURE OF DRUGS AND CASH

William Brunelle, Red Lake Department of Public Safety Director reports that the department continues to conduct enhanced drug enforcement efforts towards reducing illegal drug, narcotic and pharmaceutical activities within the exterior boundaries of Red Lake Reservation. The enhanced efforts of the department has led to several successful drug investigations involving search warrants and drug interdiction patrol which recently resulted in 18 arrests for crimes ranging from unlawful sale and possession of controlled substances to child endangerment.

In addition, the drug investigations also included the seizure of approximately $19,000.00 cash and the seizure of heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills with an approximate street value of $5,000.00 and confiscation of vehicles. Many of these crimes are still under investigation and others have already resulted in convictions.
