Evelyn Edith Sargent

Evelyn Edith Sargent, 95, of Cass Lake passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.

Evelyn was born March 16, 1918 in White Earth, Minnesota to Robert and Charlotte (Morrison) Turner. She attended schools in Flandreau, South Dakota and Pipestone, Minnesota before marrying and raising her family. She worked as a cook in various capacities for the Leech Lake Reservation and lived most of her years in Cass Lake.

Evelyn loved to read, crochet, play bingo and cards, tend her garden, care for her pets, and go fishing. She also enjoyed watching pro basketball, especially the Lakers which began while they were still a Minnesota team. Evelyn was hard working, liked to keep busy and always looked forward to taking trips to visit friends and family.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Wallace (Marcy) Sargent, Jr., Charlotte Smith, Judy Moe, Karen Pagel, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons; Kenneth Sargent, Mervel Sargent, Larry Sargent, and many brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake with Father Kuriakose Nediakala officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, October 15, from 6-8 pm at St. Charles Catholic Church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A private family interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne LaDuke, Rick Haaland, Joe Peasley, Steven Moe, George Rea and Calvin Sargent. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alfred "Tig" Pemberton, Dylan Fuller, Sibastian Peasley, Wesley Moe, Wade Wilson, and Jerry Sargent.
