Lawrence Jones Sr., age 67, of Red Lake, Minnesota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 at Jourdain Perpich Extended Care in Red Lake.

He was born on September 28, 1946 in Red Lake the son of Baptise Cobenais and Beatrice Jones.

Lawrence was formerly employed as a clerical aide for Family Service.

He enjoyed helping with the care of elders, was a great guitar player/singer and spoke fluent Ojibwa.

Survived by significant other: Marilyn Wakanabo; sons: Larry Jones Jr., Alvin Jones, Stewart Wakanabo and Fabian Mark Wakanabo; daughters: Wanda Lee Jones, Laura Lynn Wakanabo, Becky Lee Wakanebo, Rena Wakanabo, “Mary Jo Fairbanks”, Lisa Ann Wakanabo and Melissa Jean Wakanabo; and by a sister: Linda Fairbanks; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife and by a brother: Stuart.

Funeral services for Lawrence Jones Sr. will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 2:00 P.M. at The Ponemah Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, Minnesota.

Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Ponemah.

All night wakes will be held on Thursday, October 10th and Friday, October 11th beginning at 5:00 P.M. at The Ponemah Boys and Girls Club.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be The Staff of Jourdain Perpich Extended Care, Janice Howard, Angiline Wakanabo and Valencia Jones.

Casket Bearers will be Michael Hawk, Gerald Hawk, Wesley Jones, Jacob Johnson, Daniel Jones, Darrel Johnson Sr., Darrel Johnson Jr. and Daniel Hawk.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, Minnesota is serving the family.
