Roger Joseph Burnette, Jr.
Roger Joseph Burnette, Jr., 34, of Duluth, formerly of Cass Lake, MN passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Duluth.
He was born on July 4, 1979 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Roger Burnette, Sr. and Carmel (Folstrom) Headbird.
Roger graduated High School in Cass Lake, MN in 1998. He entered the United State Marine Corps right after graduation and was discharged from active duty in 2002. He worked as a cook at the Palace Casino after moving back to Cass Lake. Roger loved watching television and spending time with his dog Oscar. He moved to Brainerd and was a PCA who was helping a Vietnam Vet. Roger moved to Duluth in 2012 where he lived until his passing.
Roger was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Marion (Budreau) and Orlean Folstrom, paternal grandparents; Emma and John Burnette, an infant daughter, aunties; Frances “Frenchy” Holstein, Betty Burnette and Lorraine Slack.
He is survived by his parents; Roger Joseph Burnette, Sr. of Cloquet, MN and Carmel Headbird of Duluth, MN, sisters; Lorraine Huelette of Cass Lake and Nylene Headbird of Hinckley, MN other relatives and many friends.
A wake service for Roger will begin at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, and will continue until the 11:00 a.m. service on Thursday, October 10, all at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Pallbearers for Roger will
be Dustin Littlewolf, Mario Reyes, J.R. Robinson, Bart, Anthony Davis, Willis Burnette, Clayton Slack, Jr., and David Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordy Cloud, Jr., Jeffrey Donnell, Danny Staples, Harold Budreau, Terry Jones, Mark Reyes, Frank White, Jr., Donald Wind, Michael Reyes, Fran Folstrom and Jimmy Beaulieu. Interment for Roger will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Cass Lake following the service on Thursday.
