Arrest Made in Weekend Stabbing Investigation

On Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 12:46 AM, Beltrami County Deputies were called to investigate the stabbing of Jace Jeffrey Ugrich, 18 of Bovey. This crime occurred at a large party on property owned by Theta Tau Epsilon Fraternity Alumni on Hensel Dr NE, located in Frohn Township east of Bemidji in Beltrami County. Ugrich was stabbed in the back by an unknown assailant at this gathering.

Acting on a tip from the public, Sheriff’s Investigators identified the two persons of interest being sought in the case earlier in the week. After interviewing several witnesses the stabbing suspect was identified as Jacob Andrew Young 21, of Walker, Minnesota. Investigators located Young in Hackensack where he was arrested.

Young was transported to the Beltrami County jail and remains in custody pending review of the case by the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Cass County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
