The Fargo-Moorhead Opera, in partnership with Plains Art Museum, presents the Midwestern debut of scenes from the popular new opera, Moby-Dick by Jake Heggie, the acclaimed composer of the opera Dead Man Walking.

F-M Opera General Director David Hamilton appears as Ahab, with Cory Renbarger as Starbuck, Joshua Kohl as Greenhorn (Ishmael), and Ashraf Sewailam as Queequeg. The singers will perform scenes and arias from the opera in a concert setting at Plains Art Museum, accompanied on the piano by Maestro Joseph Mechavich, who conducted the full performances of Moby-Dick for the San Diego Opera and Calgary Opera companies. The opera first premiered in Dallas in 2010.

Plains Art Museum has two exhibits underway inspired by the Moby-Dick novel: T.L. Solien, Toward the Setting Sun and Kim Bromley: The Moby-Dick Series. Join us for terrific musical performances and then visit these exciting art exhibits also kindled by one of America's greatest classics.

Each performance runs about an hour and admission is free. The program is sponsored in part by Minnesota Public Radio.
