New Education Initiative Task Force holds first meeting

Primary goal : The enhancement of the quality of education in Red Lake

The Red Lake Nation College held its first meeting of a newly created task force at St. Mary’s Mission on September 18, 2013. The task force is currently called the “Education Initiative” and has been developed by the college with the primary goal of: “The enhancement of the quality of education in Red Lake.”

Initial task force members include the following:

 Dan King, President, Red Lake Nation College

 Bugger McArthur, Director of Development, Red Lake Nation College

 Nate Dorr, Northwest Minnesota Foundation

 Michael Barrett, Chairman Board of Education, Red Lake Schools

 Deanna Lasley, Red Lake Comp Health

 Sam Strong, Red Lake Economic Development

 Elizabeth Strong, Red Lake Economic Development

 Patti Spry, St. Mary’s Mission

 Greg Ferrin, St. Mary’s Mission School

 Annette Johnson, CFO, Seven Clans Casinos

It will be the mission of the Task Force to assist in the development of ideas, concepts, initiatives, projects, solutions, and alternatives to assist in the education of our youth. To develop a Task Force that will step forward and serve the community, analyze and assess our educational systems, and strive to enhance the quality of education from kindergarten thru post-secondary.
