2013 R2AC Artist Mentor Grant Awards

The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, passed by Minnesota voters on November 4, 2008, has made it possible for the Region 2 Arts Council to award $6,000 in Artist Mentor Grants to young artists in our region for the fourth year in a row.

This spring Region 2 Arts Council Artist Mentor grants were awarded to seven 8th -12th grade student artists to mentor with a professional artist or attend a workshop in their arts discipline.

Aanika Sletta, Bemidji Middle School student, was awarded $600 to attend the Reif Summer Dance Intensive in Grand Rapids, MN taking select courses taught by Reif and James Sewell Ballet Company staff.

Coalton Waggoner, Bagley High School student, was awarded $600 to increase his drawing skill and technique by working with local artist, Nicholas Jackson.

Elias Connell, Bemidji High School Student, was awarded $600 to study computer composition incorporated into live music performance with local musician, Greg Gaston.

Elizabeth Bodensteiner, Clearbrook-Gonvick High School student, was awarded $600 to study trumpet with mentor Dr. Del Lyren.

Berit Dybing, Bemidji High School Student, was awarded $600 to study guitar and songwriting skills and technique with Bemidji area musician and mentor, Eric Carlson.

Ashlyn Hale, Clearbrook-Gonvick High School, was awarded $600 to attend the Minnesota Show Choir Camp from June 25-June 30, 2013.

Kailee Martens, Bemidji High School student, was awarded $600 to study character development in writing through summer classes at the Teen Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN.

The next Artist Mentor Grant deadline is April 9, 2014
