Edward George Hanson

Edward George Hanson, 65, of Red Lake passed into the spirit world on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis.

Edward was born to John “Swede” and Isabelle Hanson on November 17, 1947 in Red Lake, MN. He attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Mission School and Red Lake High School.

Ed enjoyed his Miller Lite, bowling, softball, basketball, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and was an avid hunter. Ed loved his duck hunting and deer hunting and always sharing his ducks, geese, and venison with family and friends.

Ed was a veteran of the United States Air Force and completed one tour in Turkey. He worked for several years at Knox Lumber Company as an Electrical Specialist in Little Canada and eventually moved back to Red Lake where he worked for the Red Lake Boys and Girls Club. He enjoyed spending time with the kids at the Boys and Girls Club.

Prior to his passing a bar was named in his honor called “Ed’s Bar” at the Marvelous Fish House in Bemidji, MN. He was very proud of “his” bar.

Waiting for him in the spirit world were his parents, John and Isabelle Hanson, and brother Hubert “Hubba” Roy. Ed is survived by his sons; John Boyd and Ed “Tubbers” Boyd of St. Paul, MN, god daughter, Joyce Wahlstrom, of Anoka, MN, sisters; Delores Hanson Fitch, Grand Rapids, MN, Esther Hanson Moore, Clearbrook, MN, Margaret Hanson, Hastings, MN, brothers; Fabian Strong, Redby, MN, John “Ferdy” Hanson (June), Anoka, MN and Marvin Hanson, Red Lake, MN grandchildren; Johnathan Boyd, Taylor Boyd, Amber Boyd, Paul Rodriquez, Robert Duane Beaulieu, Linden Beaulieu; 3 great grandchildren, Xavier Collier, Marianna and Davion Burke and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Red Lake Community Center beginning on Monday, July 22, 2013 starting at 5:00 pm until Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:00 am and Tuesday evening starting at 5:00 pm until Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Gichitwaa Kateri Catholic Church, 3045 Park Avenue, Minneapolis, MN with burial services at Fort Snelling at 1:00 P.M.
