N. Minnesota woman charged with stabbing neighbor to death with kitchen knife

A 25-year-old northern Minnesota woman has been charged with fatally stabbing her 50-year-old neighbor with a large kitchen knife numerous times in his home.

Alison A. Brown, charged in the death on July 4 of Byron J. Lussier on the Red Lake Indian Reservation, remains held in the Clearwater County jail and is scheduled to appear Tuesday in federal court in St. Paul.

According to an FBI affidavit:

Tribal police were called to Lussier’s home about 4:20 a.m. and found him on the floor and stabbed several times. He was taken to Red Lake Hospital and pronounced dead.

A witness in the home reported hearing Brown say something to Lussier before the two started fighting physically. Another witness saw Brown grab a grilling fork, which the second witness took away.

Brown then armed herself with a large kitchen knife and stabbed Lussier, who collapsed on the floor.

Brown ran from the home to her residence four houses down the street and was quickly arrested.

An FBI agent found the bloodied knife on the Lussier kitchen table.
