PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT - RECRUITMENT OF PROPOSAL REVIEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS

MnTRECC CHILD CARE GRANT PROGRAMS

The Department of Human Services, working in cooperation with the Minnesota Tribal Resources for Early Childhood Care (MnTRECC), is currently accepting applications for appointment to the Child Care Grant Programs Proposal Review Committee.

As described in Minnesota Statutes, child care grant programs proposal review committee members shall review and make recommendations on applications for child care development grant programs. The Department shall appoint a child care grant programs proposal review committee for the MnTRECC statewide service area. This proposal review committee must contain representatives from the following constituent groups: family friends and neighbor’s caregivers, parent users of child care services, health services, social services, public schools, Head Start, employers, and other citizens with demonstrated interest in child care issues. Members of the committee with direct financial interest in a pending grant proposal may not provide a recommendation or participate in the ranking of the grant proposal. Committee members may be reimbursed for their actual travel, child care, and child care provider substitute expenses for up to six committee meetings per year.

An additional duty of this child care grant programs proposal review committee is to set priorities for child care develop grants to assist grant applicants in designing their applications to best meet the child care needs within their region. The proposal review committee is also responsible for assisting with the development of the MnTRECC plan for administering the child care grant programs.

We anticipate that proposal review committees will meet in August 2013 for orientation, priority setting and to assist in the development of the administrative plan. The first grant committee meeting to review grant proposals will be scheduled in November 2013.

Applications will need to be submitted to MnTRECC by July 31, 2013 and will then be forwarded to the Department of Human Services for final review and approval.
