Stand Against Sexual Violence Walk To Be Held at Red Lake
Sponsored by Equay Wiigamig (Women's Shelter) of Red Lake concerned citizens will do an anti-sexual violence walk at Red Lake on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
In what organizers bill as the "Protect Your Spirit Stand Against Violence Walk," participants will begin a walk at the junction of Hwy. #89 and #1 and end Seven Clans Casino and Events Center at Red Lake. Registration and an opening prayer begins at 9:30 with the walk beginning at 10 a.m.
A "Keynote Luncheon" will begin at noon at the Events Center, with guest speaker Comanche Fairbanks who will give a "Male Perspective on Sexual Violence."
Next after the Fairbanks perspective, "Tribal and National Sexual Assault Statistics" will be presented, which will be followed by an "open mic," and door prizes.
Everyone is welcome. Rides for walkers will be available.
